To provide a low-cost, alcohol free, family-oriented, old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration to all citizens of Albany County.
We truly love this event (and our sequined vests) and judging by the number of people that attend every year we think you do also. This year we celebrate 29 years of this “day in the park”. The idea for this event and the organization began in 1989. The first Freedom Has A Birthday was held on July 4th, 1990 in Washington Park. It was started by Patty Ramsey, a Laramie citizen, because she wanted more for her family to do on July 4th. She wanted a “day in the park” for the whole city. The event has grown in the last 26 years to over 100 booths, entertainment on 3 stages and activities for the over 13,000 Albany County residents and their family and friends who attend.
