Freedom Has A Birthday is run by a small committee of volunteers.  We truly love this event and judging by the number of people that attend every year we think you do also.  This year we celebrate 20 years of this "day in the park".

The idea for this event and the organziation began in 1989.  The first Freedom Has A Birthday was held on July 4th, 1990 in Washington Park.  It was started by Patty Ramsey,  a Laramie citizen, because she wanted more for her family to do on July 4th.  She wanted a "day in the park" for the whole city.  The event has grown in the last 20 years to over 100 booths, entertainment on 3 stages and activities for the over 10,000 Albany County residents and their family and friends that attend.  This year our focus is truly on the "old-fashioned" July 4th celebration.  Look for potato sack races, 3-legged races and other "old-fashioned" activities in the park.

Our  mission statement is: To provide a low-cost, alcohol free, family-oriented, old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration on July 4th of each year, to all citizens of every race, color and age of Albany County.

Without the help of our wonderful volunteers and our sponsors this event Freedom Has A Birthday would not be possible.  Thank you!
