Re: Booth Changes for 2010
Hi and welcome to our 20th celebration of Freedom Has a Birthday (FHAB), to be held on July 4, 2010! I encourage you to please take a moment to read through this note, as we are making some significant changes to our booth placement procedures this year.
In response to public comment, as well as a decision by the FHAB committee to try to bring back more of an old-fashioned family feel for our 20th celebration, we are going to work with the following format beginning this year.
· The area of the park from Shelter #1 (the free ice cream cones) and all the way West (to the Bandshell) will be reserved for “family carnival” booths. In order to be considered for placement in this area you must offer a free carnival type activity for children and or families. Prizes are optional, but there are lots of very inexpensive goodies you can purchase from companies such as Oriental Trading. If you need help thinking of activity ideas give me a call, or check out the internet, they have tons of fun, easy and inexpensive ideas. The cost for these booth spaces will be $10, or $50 for political candidates.
· Booths that are distributing information only, or that are a retail business conducting business will be placed in the East end of the park (soccer fields) and in the areas near the horseshoe pits and basketball court. These booth spaces will be $50 for a 10x10 spot, $100 for a 10x20 spot.
· Non-profit organizations that are distributing information only, or who are fund-raising only will be in the East end of the park and in the areas near the horseshoe pit and basketball court. These booth spaces will be $25.
· Concessions will be placed in the same area as past years, between Shelter #1 and the basketball court. The cost will be $50 for a 10x10 space, or $100 for a 10x20 space. Non-profit organizations offering concessions and wishing to be in the concessions area will pay $50 for either a 10x10 space or a 10x20 space.
· The car show will move to the street, and all cars will be displayed on the south side of Rainbow. Cars will register individually and will be assigned a parking space by the FHAB committee. The cost will be $10 per car space. We will attempt to place car club members with each other if you indicate your club name on the registration form.
· Spaces for all booths will be assigned on a first-come first serve basis. It is very important that you fill out area of the registration form that explains what your booth will offer so that we can be sure to put you in the best space we have available for you.
· Finally, we will have picnic tables available for the public to rent for the day. We hope the tables will give families a place to meet and hang out throughout the day. Tables will mainly be placed along the North side of the park, in the tree areas. Tables will cost $10 for the day, and can be reserved through Parks & Recreation.
· The FHAB sponsored inflatables will remain in the area just East of the horseshoe pits, and we will continue to have our stage next to the children’s playground, as well as the stage south of the horseshoe pits.
We appreciate you working with us to make our 20th year the best celebration yet for our Laramie and visiting families! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Phone (307) 721-5265 or e-mail (best way to contact me) ltangeman@ci.laramie.wy.us.
